Our History
According to the results of the interview with a focus group of 20 participants at one of
the art universities, it turned out that girls are reluctant to have men training for teachers,
and because of the general background, they lack motivation due to the fact that there are not enough experienced role models of female DJs. After researching the local market for suchlike education services in the capital of Austria, not a single DJ school was found in which a woman was in the teaching personnel.

About the founder
The musician Masha Dabelka began early musical education at the age of four at the music school in Novosibirsk. After numerous cultural activities in Russia in 2008, she continues her professional and student career in Vienna, Austria. There she produces electronic music from ambient to techno, experimental and drone - for film music, sound installations and other art and commercial projects.
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she passed her diploma with honors. After she started her doctoral studies in philosophy. As a DJ, live performer, sound artist, she performs at various international festivals: Electric Spring 2016, ''Elevate Festival''2013, ''Wiener Festwochen'' 2009, ''Moving Closer - Innovative music and art festival'' in Warsaw 2009, ''Viennale'' 2007, ''Radius'' in Salzburg 2006, as well as in different countries and cities: Estonia, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Belarus, Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk and etc..
In addition to the artistic activity, she also gives workshops in the field of electronic music for pupils and students. Between 2009 and 2015, Masha Dabelka worked as an assistant in the sound studio of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she got to know the latest technology in music production. She is currently employed as a lecturer at the MUK. Through numerous collaborations with visual and media artists, and thanks to her international background, she has developed her special artistic taste. Masha Dabelka's productions are poetic and subtle, taking her listeners on a journey into the past and into the future.
In 2017 she released her first solo album on vinyl.

Yes, absolutely. Learning playing vinyl is a very intuitive thing. Your sense of rhythm and music taste develop with practice naturally. The repetition of a set of special exercises helps you to work out your muscle memory: the only thing you need is a real passion for music.
DJing on vinyl is great for understanding fundamentals of beat-matching, touch and back cueing.
This is a pure kinesthetic experience, you can feel the hi-hat, snare and kick drum, this physical sense of music gives you more security and control over mixing. Trusting your hands and ears is a super training. After being able to mix vinyl you will be able to play with all music mediums.

The main difference is the education focus: for Beginners - it is more about working on beatmatching and level-balancing techniques; for Advanced - it is about working with music compilation and preparing a promo mixtape.
Yes, there is. One trial lesson lasts 90 min, like any other lesson at the Turntablista. During these hours you gonna boost your practical skills on turntables under our wise guidance. In case you feel like going deep into the DJing subject, we will subtract the cost of the trial lesson from the entire course cost.
The trial lesson price is 99€. You can always take one friend on board!

The duration of any individual or group lesson at the Turntablista is 90 min.
One DJ course (Beginner or Advanced) consists of 8 lessons 90 min each.
Ideally, we set lessons 2 times a week, but in some cases any less intensive schedule is possible. We always try to adapt our educational flow to your needs.
Here on our website. After that, we schedule a free introduction appointment at the Turntablista school. During the meeting, I will answer all your questions regarding the school and the courses, I will show you space and equipment, tee and coffee included ;)
